East Coast Railway Bhubaneswar Odisha(2023)
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) is one of the seventeen railway zones in India and its headquarters is located in Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha. The ECoR was formed on 1st April 2003 by the division of the South Eastern Railway and East Coast Railway Zone. The East Coast Railway covers a large portion of the eastern coast of India, including the states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. It operates a vast network of rail routes, connecting various cities and towns in the region.
The Bhubaneswar railway station serves as the main railway station for the East Coast Railway Zone. It is a major junction and an important transportation hub in the region. The station is well-connected to major cities like Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and many other cities across India.
Divisions In East Coast Railway
ECoR consists of three divisions that are responsible for operating and managing the railway network in the eastern coastal states of India. The three divisions of East Coast Railway are:
| 1. Khurda Road Division: Khurda Road Division is headquartered in Khurda, Odisha. It is one of the busiest divisions of East Coast Railway and covers a large part of Odisha state. The division is responsible for the management of several important railway stations, including Khurda Road Junction, Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, and Berhampur. |
| 2. Waltair Division: Waltair Division is headquartered in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It covers a significant part of the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh and parts of Odisha. The division oversees the operations of major railway stations such as Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, and Srikakulam Road. |
| 3. Sambalpur Division: Sambalpur Division is headquartered in Sambalpur, Odisha. It covers the western part of Odisha and some parts of Chhattisgarh state. The division manages important railway stations like Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Titlagarh, and Raigarh. |
