Geography:
- Location: Malkangiri District is located between 17° 45′ N and 18° 40′ N latitude and 81° 10′ E and 82° 00′ E longitude. It covers an area of about 5,791 square kilometers.
- Topography: The district is characterized by hilly terrain and dense forests. The Eastern Ghats mountain range runs along the western part of the district. The district also has several rivers, including the Sabari, Sileru, and Poteru, which flow through the region.
- Forests: Malkangiri District is known for its rich forest cover, which includes tropical moist deciduous forests and tropical dry deciduous forests. The dense forests are home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, tigers, leopards, sloth bears, deer, and many species of birds.
- Rivers: The Sabari River, a major river in the region, originates in the Eastern Ghats and flows through Malkangiri District.
